Pensacola Amtrak Station

PENSACOLA, FLA JUNE 23, 2017

The Pensacola Amtrak Station property is littered with trash, vandalized and covered with spray paint. We were visiting the famous Pensacola Graffiti Bridge when we happened upon the train station just west down the tracks.

The Amtrak route from New Orleans to Jacksonville that stopped in Pensacola hasn’t operated since Hurricane Katrina damaged large sections of track when it hit the Gulf Coast in 2005.

The Pensacola Graffiti Bridge that goes over 17th Avenue is somewhat of a local landmark, having been repainted for generations. Once while we were visiting this location we happened upon some graffiti artists on the East side of the bridge and Bayou Texar. When crossing the bridge over the water or following it to the Amtrak Station, be aware that the tracks are still regularly used by CSX.

After the shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola earlier this month, a mural was painted on the graffiti bridge by a local artist to honor the victims of the incident.
